Flores Anchorage
Andy Arnold and I sailed to Portugal from Newfoundland in 2004 and stopped in at the Azores on the way. This anchorage was on Flores, one of the western most of the islands and the island we made landfall on. We assumed idyllic little anchorages like this would be everywhere and so only stayed here one night. When we discovered they weren't, we thought back on this one quite a few times. "Bird in the Hand" is now a common expression aboard Avocet and sweet anchorages are left grudgingly, never mind the schedule...
